At Atlantis University Extension programs, we care about consumer privacy and data security. Effective January 1, 2020, the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) governs how businesses handle the personal information of California residents. Any capitalized terms used in this statement are defined in Atlantis University Extension program’s terms and policies, which have also been updated in light of the CCPA and are included as reference links below.

How does Atlantis University Extension programs address Customer compliance with the CCPA?
When a Customer elects to use the Atlantis University Extension programs Service, Atlantis University Extension programs becomes a “service provider” under the CCPA and collects and processes personal information on that Customer’s behalf pursuant to written contracts, including our terms and policies and, if executed, a Processing Contract (required for all Customers requiring GDPR compliance). Our team has been trained on consumer privacy and data security generally and on Atlantis University Extension program’s role in helping Customers comply with the CCPA specifically.

The Atlantis University Extension programs Platform provides Customers the opportunity to present their privacy policy to readers at or before the point of collection of personal information (e.g., as part of a subscription, registration, login page, and/or dismissible popover). Atlantis University Extension program’s End Reader Privacy Policy describes the types of consumer personal information that we may collect on a Customer’s behalf as part of the Atlantis University Extension programs Service. Atlantis University Extension programs does offer Customers the option to choose a less intrusive personal information collection practice. This option can be enabled in the Customer dashboard by checking the box for “Privacy Compliance Setting” (formerly called “GDPR (US)” and found under General Information in publication settings). If this option is selected, the Atlantis University Extension programs Platform will not store IP address in any analytic logs and will further disable the share by email feature in the reader interface to avoid the collection and storage of recipient email addresses. We strongly recommend that any Customer requiring CCPA compliance enable this Privacy Compliance Setting.

When directed to do so by a Atlantis University Extension programs Customer, Atlantis University Extension programs will comply with any verifiable consumer request for disclosure or deletion of personal information to the extent required by law. Atlantis University Extension programs may charge Customer a reasonable fee for this service. However, in reliance on Section 1798.105(d) of the CCPA, Atlantis University Extension programs will not comply with any request to disclose or delete information contained within its stored security logs (IP address, engagement activity information, and, if not disabled, email of share recipient) on the grounds that this information is necessary to, among other things, “detect security incidents,” “protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity,” and “debug to identify and repair errors that might impair existing intended functionality” of the platform.
